Will I continue the rest of the series? Absolutely! With that being said, I give Desperate Measures 5 stars! This story also introduced many other characters that are featured in the rest of the series, which I found intriguing. I even liked the bit of angst that built up between them as they delt with how they felt toward one another. So, I would have liked it better if there had been more of his POV than hers, but the story was still fun to read. However, I did find myself looking forward more to Jafar’s point of view of the story than Jasmine’s as he became my favorite character. The story is told from both Jasmine and Jafar’s point of views. And while Jafar is the “villain” he never does anything against Jasmine’s will other than locking her away for her safety, which made it all the better for me to root for them as a couple after they had been pining for one another for 5 years. There is a lot of Daddy!Kink, consensual-non-consent, and explicit sex scenes so this book may not be for everyone.
The relationship between Jasmine and Jafar was kinky and twisted. The first book in the series begins with Desperate Measures which is a dark and steamy retelling of Aladdin featuring Jafar and Jasmine as the main characters. In the Wicked Villains series by Katee Robert the good guys finish last and the villains reign triumphant.
